Dr Jing Yu

Associate Professor in Translation Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China

Jing Yu is an associate professor in Translation studies at the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She holds a PhD in Translation and Intercultural Studies from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her academic interests lie in descriptive translation studies, literary translation, and audio-visual translation. She teaches a wide range of subjects, including Stylistic Translation, Translation Theories and Practice and Introduction to Translation. Her publications include “Translating ‘others’ as ‘us’: dialect, register and the heterogeneity of standard language”,(Language and Literature 2017), “From Norm-breaking to Norm-making: A Sociological Study of the Genesis of a New Norm” (Perspectives 2017), and “From the Ivory tower to the Arena: A Sociological Study of Translation Competence” (Journal of Foreign Languages [外国语] 2018).

 

Dr Xin Li

Associate Professor in Translation Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China

Xin Li is an associate professor at the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She holds a PhD in Translation Studies from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with research interests mainly in corpus-based translation/interpreting studies, SFL-informed discourse analysis and the sociocultural aspect of translation/interpreting. Her publications include ‘Mediation through Modality Shifts in Chinese-English Government Press Conference’ (Babel 2018), ‘A Corpus-based Study of Interpretiveness of Chinese-English Press Conference Interpreting’ (Foreign Language Learning Theory and Practice [外语教学理论与实践] 2015) and ‘A Corpus-based Study of Modal Verbs in Chinese-English Government Press Conference Interpretation’(Computer-assisted Foreign Language Education [外语电化教学] 2013). She is author of The Reconstruction of Modality in Chinese-English Government Press Conference Interpreting (Springer 2018) and is the principal investigator of the project “The Reconstruction of Interpersonal Meanings in Chinese-English Government Press Conference Interpreting” sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China (2017-2020).
