Media School Translation Research School

The SISU Baker Centre for Translation and Intercultural Studies offers two research training schools, both taking place in June/July on alternate years.

The first edition of the International Research School for Media Translation and Digital Culture took place in July 2019 at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and takes place every other year thereafter at Shanghai International Studies University. It focuses on researching translation in the context of digital (audiovisual) media and online spaces and is directed by Professor Luis Pérez-González.

The first edition of the SISU Translation Research Summer School took place in July 2022 and takes place every other year thereafter at Shanghai International Studies University. It offers a broad programme of research training and is directed by Professor Mona Baker and Dr Kyung-Hye Kim.

For each research school, a number of visiting staff will be announced.

Important Note: all applicants must submit a personal statement prior to registration. The statement (500 words) should outline the reasons for and scope of the applicant’s interest in the training offered by the School.
