HUFS-ITRI The 23rd ITRI International Conference

HUFS-ITRI The 23rd ITRI International Conference

The Interpreting and Translation Research Institute (ITRI) at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) cordially invites you to our 23rd international Conference (January 12, 2024). The conference will showcase a program prepared under the theme of “Cultural Conflict and Dissonance in Translation and Interpreting“.

This theme covers a wide range of translation issues arising from cultural differences and mediation processes, including ethics and ideologies. The presentations and discussions will not only address translation issues but also explore culture-related challenges in various fields, such as machine translation and literary translation.

Additionally, three keynote speakers, comprising the head of the EU Translation Department (DGT), the director of the EU Translation Center (CdT), and the editor-in-chief of the A&HCI journal Perspectives, will provide valuable insights on the conference theme. The event also includes a special lecture by an entertainment industry interpreter and language coach from Netflix Korea.

The program offers an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Cultural Conflict and Dissonance in Translation and Interpreting.

The 23rd ITRI International Conference will take place online via Zoom, offering simultaneous interpretation in English and Korean.
