Ca’ Foscari invites applications for a tenured-track Assistant Professor of Language and Translation – German.

Ca’ Foscari is looking for a researcher of Language and translation – German with a cutting edge research profile. The researcher should also have a strong commitment to teaching new generations of students so that they can become game-changers in their own fields and make a difference in the world.

Teaching: The teaching activities will have to deal with German Language (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, lexis, text linguistics, pragmatics) from a synchronic and contrastive perspective as well as with general, literary and technical specialist translation from Italian to German and/or from German to Italian.

Research: The researcher is expected to contribute to the research line of the Department’s Project of Excellence which is focused on the theory of linguistic adaptation studying the interaction between language and its socio-cultural context, also with reference to language acquisition and learning. The research activity must be in line with the academic discipline Language and translation-German. 

The position will be hosted in the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies. The Department has recently received a “Department of Excellence” Award by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. The Excellence Award has allowed the Department to Develop state of the art laboratory facilities to pursue the theoretical and empirical study of linguistic and cultural diversity.

The Department is unique in its multidisciplinary approach to language, literature and culture, with fertile exchanges between linguistic, literary, historical and political approaches and an international outlook essential to a critical understanding of global society.

The Department actively pursues internationalization, activating joint programmes, Erasmus exchange periods, internships abroad, encouraging publication in international journals and inviting many Visiting Scholars and Professors.
