[CFP] ‘Picturebooks and graphic narratives in education and translation: mediation and multimodality

Call for Chapters for Edited Volume

Editors: Karen Bennett and Sandie Mourão

The purpose of ‘Picturebooks and graphic narratives in education and translation: mediation and multimodality’ Virtual 2021, was to bring together scholars and practitioners from the worlds of education and translation studies – distinct areas with their own specific concerns, histories, and bibliographies. By focusing on the concept of mediation – close to the heart of both education and translation – we hoped to generate synergies that would prove fruitful to researchers and practitioners from these domains.

During the conference, 65 papers were given covering a range of topics of relevance to research into mediation and multimodality across the fields of education, translation and multimodal literature scholarship and we would like to publish some of these papers as chapters in a postconference publication. We would expect chapters would cover the range of topics of relevance to research mentioned in the call for papers. As there are few publications which bring the fields of education, translation, and multimodality together through mediation, we are excited about this possibility and have had a positive response from the editor of the series on multimodality at Routledge: https://www.routledge.com/Routledge-Studies-in-Multimodality/book-series/RSMM.

The expected year of publication is late 2023 early 2024.
