[CFP] LITERATURE, CULTURE, AND TRANSLATION: THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON HAN SUYIN

MEETING DESCRIPTION:

Following the success of the 1st International Symposium on Han Suyin in July 2019, the School of Humanities (SOH), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is delighted to announce that we are hosting the 2nd International Symposium on Han Suyin. The Symposium is planned for July 2022.

Madam Han Suyin has long established her reputation in the literary field for being a cultural envoy committed to the cultural exchange between the East and West, the cultivation of translation talents, and the development of the translation industry. In the 1950s, Madam Han even served as a lecturer at Nanyang University.

In remembrance of her dedication and contributions to Sino-Western cultural exchange and the grooming of translation talents, SOH will like to invite scholars from both home and abroad to share their knowledge and exchange ideas at the Symposium.​

We, therefore, welcome papers addressing topics including, but not limited to:

The topics you choose should be closely related to the studies on Han Suyin’s writings or life experiences.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: Abstracts can be written in English or Chinese. For English abstracts, they should be approximately 250 words in length. For Chinese abstracts, they should be approximately 400 characters in length.​

Please submit your abstracts to Dr. Cui Feng: cuifeng@ntu.edu.sg by 15 May 2021. Please provide your institution, email address, and a short biography (around 300 words) together with the abstract.

Authors will be informed of the results of submission by 15 June 2021.

SUBMISSION SCHEDULE:

15 May 2021: Deadline for abstract submission;

15 June 2021: Notification of results of submission.
