Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) is an internationally recognized, prestigious academic institution notable for its multidisciplinary and multicultural character. It offers a diverse and distinctive mix of disciplines in the fields of language, literature and international and regional studies.

SISU offers courses in 46 languages, including 35 modern languages (including English, Russian, Arabic, Greek, Korean, Persian, Swahili, Javanese, Pashto, Tajik, Romanian and Chinese), and teaches 11 classical and constructed languages, such as Ancient Greek, Sanskrit, Syriac Aramaic, Pahlavi, Classical Nahuatl, Akkadian, Sumerian, Classical Hebrew and Esperanto. The Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation (GIIT) of SISU is ranked by AIIC, the International Association of Conference Interpreters, as the only Asian university among the 15 top professional conference interpreting schools in the world.

SISU is located on two different campuses, Hongkou and Songjiang. TRSS 2024 will be held at the Songjiang campus (1550 Wenxiang Road, Shanghai 201620, China).

Transportation

With excellent air links and rail and road networks, getting to Shanghai from overseas or within China has never been easier. Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) is well connected to public transport, is within walking distance from a range of different hotels and a vibrant downtown area, and is easily accessible via car, subway, and cab.

Shanghai is served by two international airports – Pudong International Airport, one of China’s major international airport hubs, and Hongqiao International/Domestic airport. Pudong International Airport serves 24 domestic airlines and 71 foreign & regional airlines, with 109 domestic connections and 117 international & regional (HK and Macao) routes, including direct flights to all major European and Asian cities and daily flights to East Asian cities. From Airports to SISU Songjiang Campus of Shanghai International Studies University by taxi

There are excellent taxi services from both airports to SISU. You’ll find taxis at the taxi rank/stand outside the main terminal buildings (follow the signs within the airport). Ask for ‘Shanghai Waiguoyu Daxue Songjiang qu (Shanghai International Studies University Songjiang district)’, or show the driver the following address in Chinese: 上海外国语大学松江区, 中国上海市文翔路1550号 (201620). It will take about 35 minutes from Hongqiao Airport by taxi and 60 minutes from Pudong Airport.

 

From Pudong Airport to SISU by Metro

You may take Metro Line 2 (heading toward Guanglan Road), and then interchange to Line 9 (heading toward Songjiang South Railway Station) at Century Avenue. Get off at Songjiang University Town station. Take the exit to Jiasong South Road (Exit No. 3 and 4). After getting off the metro, it is best to take a taxi to the campus; the journey takes about 5 minutes by taxi or 30 minutes on foot. 

 

Travelling to SISU by Shanghai Maglev Train (SMT)

Shanghai is the first stop for many people when they travel to China. From Pudong international airport, you can take the SMT, the high speed train, and enjoy an exciting first experience of the city. The train runs from Pudong International Airport to Longyang Rd. The station is located at the intersection of Longyang Road and Baiyang Road in Pudong New Area. If you show your flight ticket, you might be able to get your ticket at a discounted price. The whole journey takes only eight minutes. From Longyang Road to SISU, you can take either a taxi or Metro line 2. For more information visit Shanghai Maglev.

 

From SISU Songjiang Campus to Central Shanghai

The closest metro station to the campus is Songjiang University Town, where you can take Metro Line 9 (heading toward Caolu). You will know you are in central Shanghai when you arrive at Xujiahui station.

 

How to get to the TRSS venue

The venue is located in the Conference Centre (B5, see the Campus Map) at Shanghai International Studies University. Enter the campus either through the South Gate facing Wen Xiang Road or through the West gate facing Ren Min Bei Lu.

 

The two SMART Teaching Rooms and 155B on the ground floor of Building No. 5 will be used during TRSS. The two glass-walled SMART Teaching Rooms are next to the Room 128-129 and 131-132 in the map shown above.
